{Virtual Coffee}

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Hello there, everyone.
It's Tuesday morning and time for coffee.
If we were really meeting for coffee this morning I would tell you that I could meet you anywhere today... solo! The kids are at Vacation Bible School which means 2 1/2 long hours for me to linger over
coffee with you. We should probably just go ahead and have a little breakfast, too since I actually
have free time this morning...don'tcha think?

The funny thing is, when I do have a few free hours to myself no one else does.
I mean, anyone else I would even want to meet would have their kids with them but oh well,
I'm not complaining though, I will happily take a little free time whether I have anything to do or not.
Actually everyone could come to my house today for coffee but you might want to stop and get your own...I'm just not that good at making coffee for other people, I know how to make mine but
that's about it. Anyway, it's a skinny cinnamon dolce latte for me today.
Yum. I can never have too much cinnamon, I love it.
What are you having?

So if we were really chatting this morning, I would ask how your weekend was.
Fun? Busy? Laid-back?
Ours was pretty laid back, nothing was planned, no commitments which is just what I love.
Saturday night we ended up having a date night and my in-laws kept the kids over night.
Eric and I saw Bridesmaids and then stopped for Mexican food and margaritas-which is no
surprise because that's pretty much what we always do when we get a night out...which is fine by me.
And Bridesmaids? Seriously one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time, we laughed so hard.
A little raunchy (wait-does anyone still use that word?) but I guess a little raunchy
doesn't bother me too much. Funny, funny movie.

Oh, yesterday the kids and I made homemade ice cream, the Ziploc bag kind.
Have you made that before? Ooh, it was so good.
And believe it or not, it actually really did taste like homemade vanilla ice cream.
Yum.
The kids were amazed that we could really make ice cream by putting a few things
in a Ziploc bag and shaking it up. I will share that recipe later this week if anyone is interested.

Since it wouldn't be coffee without a weather report, I have to tell you that it is super HOT here.
Mid-90's and really humid. I think it's supposed to be like that for most of the week with
a high of 98* today. eeeeek.
Man, the humidity just kills me. But I'm not complaining (yet) I sware.
Not yet.

*   *   *   *   *   *
Well, I think that's about it for me today.
Thanks for stopping by my little spot today and having coffee with me,
hope everyone has a great day!

*Everyone is welcome to link up for coffee...make sure you link to your coffee post and not
to your blog, this link will be open all week long so join in any time this week.

  2. How lucky for you to have some alone time!! Savor it!! I have never made Ziploc bag ice cream, but it sounds like a fun thing to do with the kids. I'll have to add Bridesmaids to my list of movies to see-- I love a funny movie. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for hosting coffee!

  3. I have still never made homemade ice cream but I really want to give it a try. The weather has taken a turn for the worse here recently, damp grey and wet - yuck.

I really want to see Bridesmaids, don't think my man will go to that one though, so need to round up the girls.

  4. I really love your Virtual Coffee link ups..thanks for starting this :)

I loved Bridesmaids!! And yes, I still use the word "raunchy", and that's the perfect word to describe it, but it was still hilarious.

I'm glad you have some alone time for a little bit! I bet the quiet is nice. Mmm cinnamon dolce latte sounds good--caramel macchiato for me!

I definitely want to try the Ziploc ice cream sometime--I made homemade ice cream this weekend too but with an ice cream maker at a friend's house, so the Ziploc stuff would be easier for me to do at home. Can't wait to see the recipe!

    Enjoy your day :)

  5. I have been hesitant to see Bridesmaids, but I think I might get the hubby out for a date night for some giggles. Pretty pictures, I love the yellow and white curtains! Oh, and enjoy your peace and quiet, I'm sure it comes in small doses!

  6. I would love to know how you make you skinny cinnamon dolce? Sounds like a great post to me. Unless of course it's 3 scoops from a can.

  7. I'll be linking up in a bit...but needed to comment because we also saw bridesmaids this weekend and had mexican. Ha!

Bridesmaids was FREAKING Hilarious. Like seriously who hasn't had that happen when you are in a wedding. There is always one bridesmaid that needs to take it so far over the top. Oh, and I about died laughing when she freaked out at the bridal shower...who hasn't wanted to do that too...So funny. It almost made me break out my Wilson Phillips CD. (actually it's my hubby's, but don't tell him I told you that.)

Have a great week and here's to another laid back weekend.

i want to do a coffee link up, but i think i may have to flake today since i am a bit....overwhelmed.
but, i just had to say, that i liked bridesmaids too.
i agree, raunchy enough to make me pause and think before i give just anyone a "thumbs up, you should see it!" but so seriously funny!
i saw it in bend with my sisters at like 10:30pm...cool huh? i am so young and unfettered.....ha! that's just how i feel when i see a 10:30 pm movie.
have a lovely week, amy, and remember to bask in the 2 hours each day, even if it's just for my sake....

  11. I LOVE cinnamon too! I always put it in my lattes and cappuccinos. And when my hubby & I went to Costa Rica, we stayed in this B&B that served their coffee brewed with cinnamon in it! Best idea ever. As soon as we got home we started doing that too...just sticking a little smidge in with the grounds to brew. We did that until we switched to french press anyway.

Also I would totally die for a good homemade ice cream recipe. :)
