The Weekend Lens :: Day Trip

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Saturday I had a day all to myself.
It started out rough, I am not gonna lie.
And I will spare you all the reasons why. Ughhhh.
I left early and as soon as I hit the interstate the fog was so thick it was really hard to see.
I hate to drive in heavy rain + snow or thick fog, especially when it is dark out. Not fun.
I met my friend there, it's not quite half-way for both of us, just a little farther for me than her-- it's far
enough to feel like a get-away but close enough to make it a day trip.
Luckily my super stressful morning ended in a good day after all.

We went to a couple of really fun shops, one of them made me want almost everything in the store.
I brought home a couple of mugs from the shop below and I had a really hard time choosing.
Obviously I am a sucker for all of the 70's stuff-- the daisies, all of the orange + yellow, the funky patterns and hanging
pom pom curtains. And the 1970s laptop/notebook made me laugh.
So true!

Can you even stand it all?
The best stuff ever.

>>>>>>>>>>

And my ride home; watching the sun go down, listening to music and having lots and lots
of time to think.
Just what I needed.

So, how was your weekend?
And where is your favorite place for a day road trip?
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday.

Virtual Coffee

Friday, June 25, 2010

It's Tuesday...okay so it's Friday. Let's have coffee.
It hasn't really even been a long week or a bad week...but a week.
If we were really meeting for coffee today I would tell you......

that it has been hot, hot, hot here...whew! Many, many days in a row in the 90's...very hot and humid. Thank God for swimming pools and a/c.

that I made these blueberry muffins this morning with fresh blueberries, really simple and delicious. The recipe is from Honey & Jam, find it here.

that the kids are having so much fun swimming this year. We have spent a lot of time at Grandma & Grandpa's pool and they are loving it!

that we went to the zoo this week and the kids got to bottle-feed baby goats. I am not a huge fan of the Petting Zoo area myself but it was really cute, they loved it.

that I joined Weight Watchers last week....I could do a whole post (or a separate blog) on that subject but I will just say it is going okay so far...wish me luck though!

that I got this awesome light up globe yesterday at my favorite antique store here in town...just $5 for this vintage Fisher Price beauty...I was so excited!

I am spending the weekend with my BFF...hotels, no cooking, antiquing, girl talk....ahhhhh, I can't wait!

If Starbucks was delivering this morning what would you get? Live dangerously!
Anything new and exciting going on with you? I'm listening.....
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend, I hope to have lots of pictures to share from my weekend away!

(The kids and I dorking out in Photobooth)
Peace Out.

My New BFF:

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

So, one of my goals (not resolutions) for this year was/is to eat better, exercise and lose weight. I didn't really get off to the best start with this one but as of now we are seriously working on this, both Eric and I. We re-joined the gym last week after canceling it due to no one ever going, and have really been trying to eat healthy. Apples, bananas, cauliflower, carrots, salads, grapes = my new BFF's. We are serious about this. In fact, Eric suggested we make it somewhat of a competition with weekly weigh-ins. That's all I needed to hear. Game on. Wish me luck!
And speaking of best friends, my real life BFF  is here in town for two weeks. Can you say Girls' Night Out?  And time to hang out with all the kids of course...but can you say Girl's Night Out?  I can!
