Virtual Coffee

Friday, June 25, 2010

It's Tuesday...okay so it's Friday. Let's have coffee.
It hasn't really even been a long week or a bad week...but a week.
If we were really meeting for coffee today I would tell you......

that it has been hot, hot, hot here...whew! Many, many days in a row in the 90's...very hot and humid. Thank God for swimming pools and a/c.

that I made these blueberry muffins this morning with fresh blueberries, really simple and delicious. The recipe is from Honey & Jam, find it here.

that the kids are having so much fun swimming this year. We have spent a lot of time at Grandma & Grandpa's pool and they are loving it!

that we went to the zoo this week and the kids got to bottle-feed baby goats. I am not a huge fan of the Petting Zoo area myself but it was really cute, they loved it.

that I joined Weight Watchers last week....I could do a whole post (or a separate blog) on that subject but I will just say it is going okay so far...wish me luck though!

that I got this awesome light up globe yesterday at my favorite antique store here in town...just $5 for this vintage Fisher Price beauty...I was so excited!

I am spending the weekend with my BFF...hotels, no cooking, antiquing, girl talk....ahhhhh, I can't wait!

If Starbucks was delivering this morning what would you get? Live dangerously!
Anything new and exciting going on with you? I'm listening.....
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend, I hope to have lots of pictures to share from my weekend away!

Time to relax.....

And sweet little gestures....

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
What are your plans? We have an overnight babysitter tonight! The kids are headed to their Granny's while me & Eric have a date for dinner and then to see a friend's band play later tonight.
I'm super excited and could really use it after this long week.

Refreshed.

Ahhhh...there is nothing like getting away for just a couple days with absolutely no responsibilities and nothing you have to do. Pure bliss. So, yes, we did get away for the weekend and it was wonderful.  The weather was perfect and  there was lots of shopping, walking, sitting leisurely in coffee shops and outdoor restaurants, meeting some really interesting people, sampling wine from one of the local wineries, lots of history, cool architecture and beautiful scenery. Oh yeah and I can't forget to mention our super fancy suite and the free cocktails during Happy Hour at our hotel, that was like the icing on the cake to a perfect day! Now I feel refreshed, re-charged and ready to take on the week. I was so happy to get back home and see Eric and the kids but oh, SO grateful for my little get-away!

Mission Impossible?

Friday, November 6, 2009

It has got to be one of the most difficult things ever to plan a weekend get-away for 3 girls, with 2 kids each, along with pets, husbands and just life mixed in there. I think it really might be impossible. My best girlfriend, my cousin and I have a weekend away planned this very weekend...right now. Two nights away, in a hotel, gone from Friday-Sunday. All three of us. No husbands, no kids, just us. And lots of shopping, eating out, uninterrupted conversations, trashy magazines, a few drinks, more shopping, sleeping in..................
Oh-wait, are you wondering why I am sitting here at my computer on this very Friday night that I am supposed to be away? Well, that's because things never really go exactly as planned so the plans have been altered a little bit. My friend's husband had an emergency appendectomy a few days ago so she is out--can you believe it? I mean, it's not like he had any control over this, but seriously, do these things happen when the men are going away for the weekend? Nope, they don't. As of right now, at 11:05 p.m., Cassie and I are still going but just for one night and our fingers are crossed. I have had a child sick all week who still isn't 100 % herself and we were both at the doctor's office on the same day each having one of our kids diagnosed with ear infections but we are still in. As of right now. And after these last two weeks I am really looking forward to a quick get-away and a little adventure.
Mission Impossible? Oh, Dear God, please let it be a Mission Accomplished instead.
