Thank you so much for all the love you guys gave me on my Wash Day post last week.
Seriously, it made my day.
I love reading all of your comments and knowing that there are so many of you out there that share my love for all things antique.
That there are people out there that understand why I feel compelled to buy play sweepers and ironing boards.
And don't think I'm crazy.

That being said I need to keep it real.
I don't know if you are like me and sometimes look at other blogs and think things like:
Man, she has it all together...
that looks like a perfect day....
I bet she would never yell at her kids...
If only I took the time to do those things...

Maybe it's just me and not you  but I do think these things at times although I know we are only seeing a tiny slice of people's real lives on their blogs.
What I often covet in other people's blogs/lives is their organizational skills as it is not my strong suit.
Not at all.

That being said, I want to show you what Wash Day looked like Outside The Frame.
In other words, what you don't see.
You don't see the kids needing a bath.
My house a complete mess and laundry piling up because I am out on the front porch playing and taking pictures instead of inside doing housework.
Or that some of this stuff stayed on the porch for a couple days and we looked like straight up white trash.
For real.
And you didn't see me seeing the neighbors a few houses down come outside in their front yard and me quickly ushering the kids inside for a "snack break" because there I was in a nasty old t-shirt, no bra looking a hot mess and fearing the possibility of company.

I wouldn't want you to think things are too perfect over here....
because they most certainly are not.
But they are good in a normal and healthy way. You know, in the
kind of way.
Just trying to keep it real, folks.

  1. you are so funny!! and i'm glad that you're keeping it real for us. i was thinking about that same thing the other day as i shoved all the crap my kids littered all over the house out of the way to try and take photos of my new map. the artistic part of me wants to take a pretty picture, but the the honest part of me wants to show the chaos i live in 90% of the time. maybe that needs to be a linky party?? hmmmm.... i'm gonna email you about that thought.

  2. It's real, and that's what makes you so good. :)
Uh, yeah...our house isn't the most organized either, and all our kids are older, too, darnit. Hehe.
By the way, I think *everyone* yells at their kids sometimes. ;)

  3. I love that you keep it real! My house is always a complete disaster....always. But really, do you want your kids to remember you doing fun things on the porch with them or to remember a clean house. I also can't get over how gorgeous your porch is..it's a real porch, I'm totally envious.

  4. Real is the only way I know to be.

I know what you mean about reading those "perfect" blogs. And God bless them, but in the end...I can't really relate. It's all a little too...happy?

    I like the under-belly.

  5. Oh yeah...I'm just really loving what Dani said..."I like the under-belly", too!

  6. Oh my goodness - this is hysterical!!!
We all have blog envy from time to time. It is hard not to. I often wonder how some of these blogging mommas have time to do it all and look GOOD doing it! It is AMAZING :D
Anyway, thanks for making me SMILE.

  7. i love this post. great job- keeping it real. :)

  8. You are SO true! We rarely post what happens on the bad days. And the funny thing is that comments are the same way too. It is SO nice to hear all of them and how people can relate too!

Your header is great! I know it's been a while since I've stopped by...but I'm catching up now :)

  9. i have serious porch envy! and i can't tell you how often i have to 'rearrange' to not get crap in my photos. my house is always a total state of chaos. always.

  10. If this is your "messy"...your life is pretty darn good! :)
I LOVE your porch, I mean....that is pretty darn close to "perfect!"
    Have a happy Friday!

  11. Hey Amy, I'm popping over from Corinne's place...just wanted to say I loved your Wash Day post AND your Outside the Frame. Love keeping it real!

  12. I totally love this post. I work full time, but my job is slow this time a year. I spend alot of time looking at blogs missing stay at home days! I have blog envy every day, but I am going to try and remember from now on the out of the frame part. Oh and I was so jealous of Heather's map project and how orderly her housed looked. It is good to know she did not have it all together.

  13. i love you. i truly love you. you are hilarious and witty and why didn't i ever think of this post?

  14. Thanks for keeping it real. I'm one of those people who reads blogs and thinks "wow that lady has it all together. Look how clean her house is, and how easily she entertains her kids." Ahhh...drives me nuts. I always end up feeling a little crappy about my own housekeeping/baby entertaining abilities.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. Oh, and Hi. My name is Tatiana, and I stumbled upon you through one of Corinne's posts. Great blog. Can't wait to read more!

leave me a comment...you know you wanna.
