{Alone}

It's no secret...
I love alone time.
Quiet time.
All by myself.
Away from home.

I know I have said before that I love to take drives by myself with my camera.
Oh, I do.
Music if I want it, silence if I don't.
No one to talk to, no one to answer to.
I can go wherever I want.

I always head out of town, to the country.
I pick a direction, any direction.
All the windows down.
Today I headed west, towards the sun.
The light will be better was my only reason.
New towns, different roads, new scenery.

Sometimes I wonder if it's normal to crave this alone time as much as I do?
But I know that for me it is absolutely necessary.
I used to sometimes feel a tiny bit guilty like I was needing to get away from home, away from my family and away from the kids.
But it's not really about getting away from them, or home...or anyone.
It's just about getting time by myself.

To do something I want to do.
To practice something I love, that is just for me.
And just to have quiet time to think.

To me, these two little hours are pure bliss.
I am refreshed, rejuvenated and ready for the new week.
And you know what one of the best things about my Sunday drive was?
Not just that my husband doesn't care that I go, but tells me to go and says he doesn't even mind if I am not home until after the kids' bedtime.
Now that's what I'm talking about.

Hope you all are having a Happy Monday!
Don't forget tomorrow is Tuesday...coffee time...see ya then!

  1. Oh. . .I am so the same way. . .time alone is so hard to come by and a definate neccessity.

I also have dealt with the guilt, but I am such a better mom, wife, friend, etc when I get that time that now, I know it is important.

    thanks for the beautiful pictures!

  4. Wonderful!

I am the same way - I'm not trying to get away from my family, but trying to get closer to myself. Even if it's going for a walk, I need a little time to myself each day.

  5. Sounds amazing. I love taking a country drive and just rolling down the windows and breathing in that country fresh air...and just having 'me' time. I completely know what you mean. It is nice to have that time every once in a while. ;)

  10. Gorgeous photos, Amy! I mean really! And I am the exact same way with alone time. I get super cranky when I don't get time by myself to just be ALONE!

  11. for me alone time = a HAPPY MOMMA
It is hard to not feel guilty about needing a break from the best job EVER. But, hey, everyone gets breaks "on the job" except for all the Mommas out there..... and we certainly need one now and then. I love that you just drive, though. I am usually off to book club or a friend's house or something. A drive would be nice. Maybe I will give that a shot!

  15. Good for you! I don't get enough alone time. Makes me quite the crab.

Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous as always. You have a great eye. I'm curious what lens you shoot with when you take off on these adventures.
