{The Most Wonderful Time}

"It's the most wonderful time of the year...."
I can't get that song, or really just that first verse, out of my head today.
It is Christmas Eve. And it is snowing here! Right now, as I type.
Big, pretty fluffy snowflakes just in time for Christmas! Perfect. I am not a huge fan of the snow (usually) but everything really does feel so Christmasy when the world outside is white.
Just look at my holly bush by my front porch this morning, so pretty.
Today some last minute things are getting done like packaging up all the baked treats for friends and family and of course there were a couple last minute things to cut out, wrap and ribbon.

{A Magical Night...}

Tonight is a big night for us, almost more exciting than Christmas morning. For me it really is anyway.
Tonight we go to our big Christmas Eve celebration at my uncle's house, which is my grandparent's old house. All of my mom's family (and I know I have said this many times but my mom is one of 15 kids so we have a big family) will be there... a very full house, it is normal for us to have a crowd of 65+ at the holidays. Lots of cousins and aunts and uncles and lots of kids. Lots and lots of little kids.
Most of us grand kids have kids of our own now so the next generation is celebrating Christmas Eve
 like we did when I was little. We have been doing this night since I can remember...
probably since I was born. In the same house....with the same people...and more now.
This year is the five-year anniversary since my grandma died and I have been thinking a lot of her and my grandpa both lately. I cannot say enough about my grandparents and how special they were to me. Just to look around and see the people that they raised, the family they created and the people's lives they influenced is so powerful to me. They did something right. Their legacy is a big family that love, and actually like each other, and love nothing more than spending the holidays together.
As a parent, what more could you ask for? I am looking so forward to this special night and
 I am hoping that is is just as magical for my kids as it always has been for me.

Merry Christmas everyone.
Wishing you a magical holiday filled with love. XO

  2. WOW, 15 kids?! Holy. Crap. That is...just astounding!!!
    The tradition sounds awesome though:)
    Yeah, I love to see families that not only love each other, but actually LIKE each other. Us siblings are like that. I can't wait to see what kind of Christmases and future in general we have together.

    Merry Christmas, Amy!

  3. My grandparents were awesome too. I miss them both very much...but they only had two kids, so our family is kind of small. I have a good friend whose dad was one of 15 though. I can't imagine! Merry Christmas!
