Oh, I love this little boy to pieces.
Let me tell you why.
Yesterday when we picked him up from school his sister was asleep in the car, like she always is...
she falls asleep in the car nearly every day on our seven minute drive there.
Anyway, when he got in the car I told him she has a little cold and is tired, so don't wake her up please.
At this point sometimes he does, on purpose. But not this time.
So we get home and he hurries inside and tells us not to come in the kitchen, he is gong to make Charlotte a special snack. So he makes her a kiddie-cino (kid "cappuccino") with tons of whipped cream and sprinkles about two inches high. For real. Her snack consisted of marshmallows, fruit snacks, chocolate chips, three Hershey's kisses and a chocolate gold coin. All mixed together. He was obviously going for a healthy snack.
He got all of Charlotte's favorite stuffed animals, made her a little nest on the couch and let her pick any movie she wanted to watch. Well, with the exception of Beauty and the Beast. He says he's over it and
I don't really blame him. There was no fighting. None. Just being sweet and helpful and a good big brother. And let me tell you what, she eats it up. She loves being taken care of by her big brother.
One whole evening without fighting. A whole evening. No; "he's looking at me, she's copying me, stop following me, mine is faster than yours, nu-uh mine is faster than yours, i can gallop better than you, mommy she's looking at me, he's copying me, she won't stay out of my room, I'm telling mommy, you're too bossy, nu-uh you are bossier, he ate the last one, she knocked over my lego's on purpose, Charlotte said she can read better than me, I'm telling......"Thank you for the break, kids. I know you'll probably make up for it today but that's okay.
Yes, he's busy, he's a little wild and crazy sometimes and nearly drives me insane with his constant talking at times but he is undeniably sweet (and cute) and I love this little boy to the moon and back. I will take these little moments and days when you feel like your kids just might turn out okay after all, when you don't feel like running away from home or starting to drink at 4:00 in the afternoon. I'll take them because I'm not sure when the next one will come.
Happy Wednesday to you, the week is half way over!
We have stayed home the last two days getting lots done around here so we are making a break for it today. We are meeting my mom for lunch and a little shopping, a girl's day out, Charlotte says.
I think we both need it. Hope you all have a great day!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart! I know the feeling - my 4 month old could be asleep anywhere, anytime and my 3 1/2 yr old MUST wake him up. uggh. lol. but he can be super sweet. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh man, this is what I wish for when I think of my little girl and her soon-arriving little brother. I mean, I KNOW it won't always be like that (I have a little brother myself...I KNOW how it is), but I look forward to these little moments and then again to the ones where you fast forward to 22 years later when they'll actually look forward to spending time together.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and what a beautiful boy you have! x
ReplyDeletei am always telling jake that our family works SO MUCH BETTER when he has it in him to take his place as the "big brother"....what a night and day difference. i totally get it.
ReplyDeleteHe is absolutely adorable! Those little breaks are heaven. My ballerinas fight non.stop. It is painfully exhausting to be around them together.
ReplyDeleteHave FUN tomorrow! A girl's day out sounds divine.
Those days are so few and far between. And I love them dearly.
ReplyDeleteHope your little feels better soon.

ReplyDeleteyou deserve 200 gummy bears....or 200 girlscout cookies....or a $200 gift card to anthropologie....or 200 vintage suitcases...just some ideas of what i'd give you if i have unlimited resourses. xoxox you are rad.
