On my bookshelf ::
I read Water For Elephants last month in anticipation of the movie coming out this week.
I loved the book...so, so good.
I can't wait to see the movie this week!
I was kind of obsessed with the trailer and really hope that the movie is as good as it looks.
Has anyone seen it yet?

I just came across The Red Tent on my living room bookshelf the other day.
I think I might need to read it again, I loved that book.

Wouldn't you just love to curl up on the couch, or in bed, with a hot cup of coffee/tea and read all day?
Read, nap, read, nap.
I never thought that would sound like so much fun.
But it really does. Wow, I am such a grown-up.
What are you reading now?
I need a good book to read. A really good book.
The kind you don't want to put down, the kind that makes you sad when it ends.
Any book recommendations for me?

  1. The hardy boys....awesomness!!! Happy Easter girl!!

  2. I literally just say Water for Elephants about two hours ago, and it was fan-freaking-tastic. I absolutely loved it. The book was amazing too, so I couldn't wait to see it either. I hope you like it! You'll have to let us know what you think!

Hope you have a beautiful Easter my dear!

  3. Can't wait to catch the film :)

I'm more of a garden/home decor magazine girl. And a library book reader - whatever is available :) XOL

  4. Love these! You have some of my favorites in that stack! :)

Hope your day is a happy one.

  5. i read water for elephants after seeing that amazing trailer and i can't wait to see it! i think i'm going to see it tonight.

the red tent is one of my favorite books! i bet i've read it 10 times! right now i'm reading another book by the same author called "the last days of dogtown." i've not very far in it but it's great so far.

  6. I am reading the Outlanders series right now. Really good books. The first one is The outlander by Diana Gabaldon. They are historical fiction and filled with action adventure and clean romance.

  7. I recently read "The Distant Hours" by Kate Morton. I really loved, but from the looks of your bookshelf, I'm not sure if it's your kind of book. Check it out though. Other than that, I'm currently reading "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" and really loving it.

  8. The Red Tent is always the first book I recommend when people are asking for new books to read!

I am currently reading Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond.

If you haven't read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, I would definitely recommend it. One of the best books I read last year. I have his book Kite Runner in my "to read" pile.

  9. I loved Water for Elephants. I'm waiting to see it, maybe this week? depending on money.

As for books? The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova, Eat Pray Love (if you haven't read it yet) Those who saved us, Sarah's Key, Letters for Emily by Camron Wright, The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks... :) I read too much and am always looking for new books! :)

  10. i just read Jane Eyre.
    suuuuuper good.
wish i could go with you to the movies!
i can't wait to see WFE either.
ok ok, how bout gone with the wind?
i am reading one called Juliet right now (not sure the author)
it is SO good. a crazy historical fiction about the real story of romeo and juliet...great. wish i was reading it right now.
please tell me you have read "redeeming love".(francine rivers)
    if not get it today.
SO good. cheesy title but seriously good.

  13. SEE THE MOVIE! highly recommend! now i want to read the book!

  14. I see you have a lot of my usual recommendations in your stacks! Have you read "Room" by Emma Donoghue? That book will knock your socks off. Another, more fun but still interesting read, is "Veil of Roses" by Laura Fitzgerald. You might also like "Never Let Me Go" or "When We Were Orphans" by Kazuo Ishiguro (the former, I think, has been made into a movie too). I just finished and totally loved "Shanghai Girls" by Lisa See and am currently reading and enjoying "The Surrendered" by Chang-rae Lee. Hope you find some ones you like somewhere in that list!

  15. ALways love your posts and pictures!! Book recommendations: Sarah's Key, The Time Travellers Wife, A Million Miles in a Thousand years by DOnald Miller, Whistling in the Dark by Lesley Kagen, Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart, I just finished My Life in France by Julia Child with Alex Prudhomme, and a friend has given me Mariana by Susanna Kearsley to read.

  16. oh to just lounge and read... i am anxious for summer and plan to do just that!! i'm not sure i have any profound books to recommend. my old favorites though? a series by fern michaels that starts with texas heat {probably at the library! they are OLD} three (?) books in that series, then it goes on the vegas, and then kentucky. the entire series is probably about 10 books, all through the life of a family. if you love a story to never end... this is perfect.

  17. i'm a big reader, i've actually got a huge ongoing list of books on my blog, those i read last year and those i'm reading this year, if you need a nice long list :) if you really want to cry, read Crossing the Ocean. balled like a baby.

  18. I would love to have a nap, read, nap, read day! I love, love, love the Red Tent! I just started Water for Elephants last night, Have you ever read Kristen Hannah? I loved Firefly Lane and Night Road. I cried in both! I also just finished Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult, very good!

  19. If you want something fluffy and FUN to read - check out Everyone is Beautiful by Katherine Center. It is really a great book and a fast read.
If you are looking for something a little more moving and a tad darker, but impossible to put down - try Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah.
