Warning All Target Customers:

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

and employees, can't forget the employees. Me and my children will be taking a trip to Target today so you might want to steer clear of my little one if you see us coming. She is the sweetest little thing ever but she has a voice that carries and absolutely no censor, she was actually born without one I think.

A couple weeks ago the kids and I are about to walk into the door at Target when Charlotte spots a woman smoking outside. Uh-oh. This can't be good, I can tell by the way she is looking at her. She likes to point out cigarettes on the ground all the time now, and I just usually comment with a quick; "Yuck, we don't like smoking, do we?" or something like that. Well, I guess she was first thrown off that a woman was smoking (not sure why?) so she said fairly loudly; "What? A lady smoking cigarettes?" That wasn't even the embarrassing part....and then-and this is so loud and literally 10 inches from the woman- "Well, her insides are all going to turn black and she is just gonna go to ashes."
Ughhhh...help. Why me? And why always at Target? A few more recent Target antics: here.
So, you have been warned. Not up for insults from a 3-year old today? Target, here we come.....

  1. ha ha ha. she sounds like my loud mouth daughter. she routinely starts sentences with "What?!" as if she's appalled or disgusted by whatever it is she's about to comment on. its always so awkward when strangers are involved.

    good luck.

  2. Target brings out the worst in my children. It's as if demons posess their bodies as they go through those automatic doors.

Funny stories. Love love love that picture.

  3. i copied your Target antics for my sister to read. we both cracked up. it's our favorite store and i would love to run into your little breath of honesty anyday. kids say what is on their mind, when it is on their mind. i find it refreshing...wish more adults did it :)

  5. Dammit, what a hot mess! This cracks me up! I gotta say, I love it though when kids say just the thing you would like to say if you had no filter. Sometimes, they're helpful that way!

  6. ok, here's what you do. grab a cart and go directly to the food counter. get both kids a bag of popcorn and a slurpee. they need their own for this to work. put them into the cart with their goods. then proceed to shop...in SILENCE! it's so wonderful.

  7. So cute!! Hey, it is the truth and that lady smoker knows it ;D My kids just whine and whine and whine when we go there. I think because they know when we go in, it is gonna be a good long while before we come out ;D I am still convinced that Target is a little evil.

  8. I so appreciate your angst....My daughter once told her babysitter to get that ring out of her nose. I was mortified, but the girl didn't mind the babysitting gig -- she kept coming back.

I'm sure most people understand that it's coming from the mouth of a babe. You just better not go out in public looking like a "hot mess."

  9. oh goodness! Kids do say the funniest things.. and it's all kids.. they haven't learned to filter yet! I was babysitting my boyfriend's little brother and took him to Mcdonalds.. and I had the hiccups so he preceded to scream to scare them away. Needless to say we had to leave

  10. I am visiting from Jodi's blog...:)

Adorable socks! Purchased at Tarjeeeettt? :) I love Target, the whole family does!

My 7-yr old grandson has definitely said his share of embarrassing stuff! Like, "your teeth are really yellow!"...I could have died right there!

I am hopeful(I think??)that he will outgrow some of his desire to share every thought that pops into his cute little head.

  11. Ha! Love it! Max once walked up to a lady on the patio of a restaurant and said, "Why are you SUCKING on that yucky stick!?!" She just put it down and said, "I don't know." It was awesome and hilarious.

I hate taking both kids to Target, or any store for that matter, and my kids are 6 and 9. No more than one kid at a time when shopping. That's my rule. Of course, I rarely get to follow it. But I can keep hoping. Right?
