Not Missing This One

Remember a while back when {this} happened?
Yeah, I know...I kind of tried to block it out, too.
Anyway, I was able to redeem myself a little this past week with another program my
boy was in...one I did NOT miss.
To keep it short & simple; he was in a group of eight kids at school that were chosen to be part
of a group that would participate in a challenge and they had to think up and act out a short play,
just seven minutes long.
These are first graders; six and seven years old.
Wyatt was the reporter which was perfect for him because he got to dress up in a suit and tie.
Saturday we had to travel to another city about an hour and a half away for the Competition.
Although for this young group that he is in it is not actually a competition--no scoring, just performing
in front of judges and getting feedback from them.
They did so good, I am beyond proud.
And I didn't miss it.

As a matter of fact I didn't miss a single practice this week, the kids performed their play for all
of the first and second grade classes. I have been helping out the person in charge and by the
end Charlotte and I knew all the lines and words to the songs.
What surprised me just a little is that the kids LOVED doing it, they never complained or said
they didn't want to practice or perform, they loved doing it.
Yesterday was a lot of fun, one of those parenting days you won't ever forget.
One of the best ones...the kind that makes up for all of the hard and not-so-good ones.

I have to say, it was also really nice to have one long, full day with just my little family, just
the four of us.
Often on the weekends we are busy with one of us going here with one kid, the other doing
something else with the other or one of us busy with something else while the other is with the
kids, which is all fine but it was nice to have one day with the four of us all together
for a change, all day long.
Yes, we killed some time at Bass Pro Shop, which is actually more fun than one might think
it could be.

A long day and an early night.
I have to confess that I was in bed by about 9:30 the past two nights, it was a long, busy week.
And this morning? Eric let me sleep in until about 8:45.
Ahhhhhhhh, dreamy.

Hoping I am all caught up on my sleep so I can stay up for the Oscar's tonight though.
Will you be watching?
Eric and I have always watched them together, way before kids, he always makes some snacks
for us and we have drinks and will try to get the kids set up with a special movie night
in one of their bedrooms. They don't have Tv's in their bedrooms, so for them it is something
different and that way mama can watch the red carpet, my favorite part.
Anyway--Happy Sunday...hope you have a good one!

  4. Yay!! I'm so happy that you got to enjoy the play and family time (all four of you) is precious.

I watched a little of the red carpet then crashed thanks to the fever that came back. Meh.

    Happy Monday, Amy!
