Hello and Good morning.
It's May, you guys.
May 3 to be precise.
Wow. It's really Spring...finally.
I mean even if it doesn't much feel like it here today, is really is!
And inevitably, it will be summer and hot and school will be out and all that jazz.
It's funny how we wait what for feels like forever for Spring and Winter seems so long and dreadful
but still when Spring finally does come it almost surprises me.
We got so much rain last week, I hope it doesn't rain quite as much this week.
I don't think it is supposed to get much over the mid-60's but I'm not complaining.

So, now that I have talked about the weather, it's time for coffee and I'm picking mine up this morning.
What are you having?

If we were really meeting for coffee today I would tell you....
Today is the big day, the Kindergarten Musical.
It's quite the big deal you know, being that this is my very first kindergartner and all.
I'm excited.
I saw a little bit of dress rehearsal yesterday and it was so cute.
The scenery and lights and their costumes and all of it...too cute.
So, today at 2:00 and 7:00 that is where I will be, at school
trying not to go into the ugly cry watching my little guy in his first ever play.
I know, I am kind of a big dork but those things really get to me.
Afterwards we are having the grandparents over for ice cream sundaes...kinda late for a school
night but it is a special occasion after all, so we are going to celebrate.

This past weekend we spent some time working in the yard on Sunday.
There is so much to be done outside and the crazy weather and wind we have had here
lately knocked down part of our little privacy fence around our patio.
If that's the worst we got I know we should be thankful.
It is absolutely heartbreaking to watch the news and see all of the damage from the tornadoes
in the South last week. Devastating. We have family in Alabama and thankfully they were all
safe but many people lost everything, not to mention all the lives lost.
Seeing that really puts things into perspective.

So if we were really meeting for coffee today, I would have to ask you if you
watched the Royal Wedding last week?
I watched some of it and watched some of the highlights later, too.
I was not the person setting my alarm for 3:00 a.m. but I was interested in seeing her
dress and catching a glimpse of the couple and the crowd and all the craziness.
We had a little tea party, a Royal Tea party if you will, with my cousin and her kids.
Fancy dresses and croissants with strawberry jam and pink lemonade...any excuse to bust out
the fancy tea party dishes I have slowly been picking up at estate sales,
rummage sales and antique stores.

I already told you what we did the rest of the weekend in yesterday's post.
How was your weekend?
Oh-and speaking of weekends, do you have any big plans for this weekend?
And wait--how did it get to be Mother's Day weekend already anyway?
I guess because it is May...which I am still just having a bit of a hard time believing.

Well, thanks so much for coffee this morning, so glad you stopped by!
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

  1. I love the idea of the tea party for the Royal Wedding, that is so cute. We watched bits here and there but it's on all the time anyway, it's almost impossible not to see it! I did like the dress though I think it was right for the occasion.

  3. Oh the kindergarten musical would put me into the ugly cry, I have no doubt. Stuff like that always always gets to me.

Love your tea party-- I didn't do anything involving the royal wedding except to look at pictures online afterwards. My boys aren't really too into tea parties, and my daughter is too young at this point to care about such things. :)

Thanks for the coffee-- have a great day!

  11. I love your photos, especially the rainboots in the wagon!
So glad your family in Alabama is okay; what a tragedy.
I always cry at my kids' performances and always have, but this year will be the most emotional ever - my oldest son graduates from high school! I will be swimming in a river of tears....

  13. I love the photos of the radio flyer and boots. It makes my long for childhood.

I would tell you that I didn't want any of the Royal wedding. I caught a picture here and there when the TV was on, but that was it. I don't know, it just didn't capture my attention.

Thanks for hosting coffee. See you next week.

  14. Awww, what cute little rain boots. That's what E needs :-) Unfortunately, we've been using the rain boots WAY too much here...I'm ready for sandals :-)

Ok, I have to say that when it comes time for my boy to perform in his first musical, I'll be the one in the front row clapping the hardest and bawling, so go ahead and make a big deal out of it. Because it's one of those once in a lifetime milestone. Enjoy :-)

Have a fabulous mother's day and thanks for coffee.
