Now remember that we live nowhere near the beach, not a real beach anyway.
I mean we have smaller lakes around here with little beaches but not like the beautiful beaches in Michigan.
I have to say that I was truly surprised at how beautiful the beaches are there, a really nice surprise.
The nearly-white sand, so soft, the water, so pretty, the sky, the sun...so relaxing.
Now, so as not to romanticize our trip to the beach too much and in an effort to keep it real, you need to know that the beach was closed for nearly two days while we were there due to high levels of bacteria in the water.
You may also like to know that I was probably more disappointed than the kids and wanted to cry and throw a fit but alas, I did not.
So we left for the day to go out exploring the little towns nearby and when we came back to the park later in the day they were just announcing the beaches were safe again for swimming. Yay!
I think we went to the beach every night and stayed until they started announcing that it was closing at 10:00 p.m.
We took picnics there, walked around, built sand castles, searched for shells, waded in the water, swam, chased sea gulls, ate ice cream and collected a bunch of really cool rocks.
I think I may have loved the beach at night almost as much as swimming there during the hot, hot day.
There is something so relaxing and peaceful about watching the sun go down and being near the water on an almost empty beach.
We were sad to leave this little beach behind but know that we will be back.
And don't worry, there are many more pictures from vacation...there's a good chance you will be quite sick of them by the end of the week.
Don't forget that tomorrow is Tuesday, Virtual Coffee time again.
And since it was so much fun having a Guest Blogger last week, there will be another one tomorrow so make sure and stop by!
Is it really July 19 already? How is that possible?!?
What fantastic pictures! I have never been to Michigan before & I have always wanted to visit the Great Lakes! The beaches there look SO different than our beaches here in Cali. Glad you had a great trip, can't wait to hear more about it!

Hi Amy!
ReplyDeleteI popped over today from Blessed Little Nest for "Virtual Coffee" what a great concept for blogging!
We're preparing to move to the land of 10,000 lakes next week - glad to see that even lakes can have beachy beaches! Makes me feel better about balancing out the winters there that will be a shock to this mama who's become quite accustomed to the southern temps!!
I look forward to visiting with you again soon!
-cheers!
