Cabin Fever and A Road Trip Adventure

Friday, January 28, 2011

Monday morning we went to the grocery store and that's pretty much the extent of our "getting out" this week, besides school drop off/pick up. Yesterday morning Charlotte was feeling really good so I decided it was time to get out. Anywhere. We just needed to go. But just out of the house wasn't gonna cut it, I decided I needed to actually get out of town. Charlotte agreed;  when I told her she started cheering; "We're going on an adventure!" over and over. Can you say...Cabin Fever?
A Road Trip Adventure. You know I do love a little road trip.
And I didn't care if that Road Trip meant a teeny-tiny town 35 minutes away.
 We needed an adventure. Bad.

Down a two-lane highway, past empty cornfields, trains and pastures. As soon as we headed out of town the SUN came out. I repeat, the sun came out. I could have cried. I mean, seriously, it just made my little drive that much better. A little road trip means stopping at the gas station for a pop for me (not soda, people, but pop. cause i'm country like that) and a treat for the little one. Oh, the excitement of a Road Trip Adventure. It also means a bag packed with books and little princesses and grapes and for me it meant quiet time to think in the car while Charlotte slept.

If you've read here much you know that I love small towns. Not as exciting as the big city but unique and full of character. I love visiting big cities and have really, really had the urge this week for a weekend get-away, in the big city, just the husband and I {Soon...hopefully soon}. But I do love visiting a small town I've never been through before, which wasn't the case this time, but that's okay. I love the buildings, the signs, the small-town, family-owned restaurants and the mail drop boxes right in the middle of the street. Only in a small town.

That was some good pizza. Can't ya tell? And if you guessed that one of the main reasons behind our Road Trip Adventure was to go to one of my favorite Antique Shop/Flea Markets, you guessed correctly. But you're going to have to come back tomorrow to see what I got. Let me tell ya, she's a beauty and exactly what I have been looking for. Don't you love that?

This weekend I am looking forward to a whole lot of nothing. Eric will be at the cabin so I am thinking the kids and I will stay in tomorrow night, watch a movie and pop popcorn. We need something really good to watch though...any suggestions? Happy Friday everyone. hope you have a great weekend!

  1. Sounds like a blast! I love small towns too-they are so camera worthy! The folks who live in them probably don't realize what beauty they live in.
    enjoy your weekend!
