Coffee Just Tastes Better In Indiana

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Well this past weekend it did anyway.
Seriously, it did.
A regular old cup of coffee, no fancy froth, with 2% milk(yuck)....  And still one of the best cups of coffee ever.
But anything would've probably tasted pretty good with this morning view though... Right?

This past weekend was our annual family get-away weekend in Indiana.
These perfect little cabins and this beautiful park... we    L  O  V  E   this weekend.
My kids  might love this weekend even more than I do... if that's possible.

We had the best weather this weekend I think we have ever had here so far, and we have been coming for maybe... 11 years or so.
It was sunny and there was no rain but it was cool enough that you had to wear a sweatshirt or jacket and it felt so good.
Cool enough that you could see your breath in the morning and a steaming cup of coffee felt so good in your hands.
I love that kind of weather.

I am so glad I grabbed my Nikon before Charlotte and I took this short walk before we left on the last morning.
I take a lot of pictures with my phone, a lot, and I think I get some pretty good ones, but nothing really compares to my big camera.
These pictures almost make me be able to feel the crisp Fall air, feel the sun, see that beautiful light coming through the trees.

So yes, our coffee tasted better and our beer tasted better... I think the wine did, too.
This weekend was just what I needed... so, so very good for the soul.
Until next year, Indiana!

McCormick's Creek State Park, Indiana

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Our annual trip tot McCormick's Creek State Park is one of my favorite weekends of the year, every year.
This year we had absolutely beautiful Fall-like weather and it was just perfect-- exactly what you would want for the middle of September.
The water fall, the hay ride, the trails, all the cousins, the freedom to run around the park and back and forth between the cabins, walking to
the playground at night with flashlights, telling ghost stories in the cabin... it is all just a magical weekend, really.

Until next year, Indiana... we can't wait!

Thank You, Indiana

for another wonderful weekend.
We had a wonderful time in your great State.
More on that tomorrow though.
I am still under the weather...can you believe it?
Time to take some medicine and get my tail to bed.

{PS- how sweet is that picture of Charlotte and my niece, Drew?}

Monday, September 20, 2010

Well, hello there Monday.
How was your weekend?
I hope it was wonderful and didn't seem to just  totally fly by like ours did.
We spent our weekend at a beautiful State Park in Indiana, about three hours away.
We stay in the Family Cabins and oh, it really is just so much fun.
My parents used to take us when we were little, spending the week
there with aunts and uncles and cousins.
And now my little family is spending weekends there once a year; with aunts
and uncles and cousins and second-cousins.
You know how much I love that.

I think our family, meaning my family on my mom's side, take up about seven or eight cabins.
They are all close to each other and have electricity, indoor plumbing
and are just the cutest little cabins ever.
These cabins are highly coveted so we make our reservations for
the following year while we are there each year.
We always go mid-September and this year the leaves were just
starting to change colors, ever so slightly.

The first picture was taken down in the creek where the waterfall is, which is my favorite spot.
The kids love walking through the creek, on the rocks, right through the water over to the Falls.
Due to lack of rain the water was low and the Falls were not nearly as pretty
as usual but still very cool just the same.

I said the Falls were my favorite spot, and that's true, but my very favorite thing about the weekend
has to be the hayride. Okay, I think I might even be more excited about it than
the kids sometimes, it's that good.
We go in the evening and it is just so nice and relaxing, it's about a
45-minute ride through the whole park.

How truly lucky we are to have such beautiful State Parks within driving distance from us.
On our way through Illinois and into Indiana we pass several other State Parks we have
never been to that I would love to visit a some point.
You can check out a list of State Parks in your state right here.

There's more pictures but I will stop here for today.
Hope everyone is having a great Monday and I hope you join
me here tomorrow morning for coffee!

It's Got to Be RIGHT!  Fried bread? Yep...and it was delicious! We tried this at the Apple Butter Festival in Indiana over the weekend and fell in love. Warm, fried bread dipped in pumpkin butter. A little slice of heaven!
