The End.

Today I baked the last of the muffins for our little project, Muffins For Haiti. Six dozen muffins today and now I am done. Wow. I can't believe I did it, that I really baked that many muffins, kept track of it all, bagged them, delivered them, answered so many emails and phone calls.....wow. I have one last delivery and then I will calculate the total profits. I'm really excited to see what the final number is and how close we are to our goal of $500.00 for UNICEF. I think we started this little project 3 long weeks ago and today I can say that I am really proud of what we accomplished, whether we meet our goal or not. And don't worry, this won't be the last Muffin Post, I will let you know what our final donation ends up being. Now, Bu-bye chocolate chip muffins...I've had enough of you for a while!

All The Way To California....

If you asked me what my very favorite time of day was I would probably say after the kids go to bed at night. I love it when they are just bathed and in their pajamas, and all of us are reading books on our bed though, too. I love the quiet time after they go to bed where I have a little time by myself, time for uninterrupted conversations with Eric and a couple hours to do whatever I want....of course I do. But then I love the time right before they get into bed or maybe right after they get into bed and we talk for a second about what we're doing the next day, what we did today, etc. Last night our "I love You's" went something like this:
Me: I love you
Wyatt: I love you more than anything
Charlotte: I love you to the moon and space
Wyatt: I love you to Pluto and I don't have school tomorrow, do I?
Me: No, and I love you to the moon and stars
Charlotte: I love you more than milk
Wyatt: I love you more than tv
Charlotte: I love you this much-hands above her head
Wyatt: I love you all the way to California and back
*(This one was possibly inspired by this song we have been listening to this week...LOVE this.)

Someday when they are older and maybe even have children of their own they will realize that I love them more than all of these things put together. Every single day, forever.

Little Mama

Charlotte's new most favorite thing to do is for me to set up her little tiny play sink in the kitchen and give her baby doll a bath while I am working in their. She has me fill it with water, add a little dish soap and she gets her pretend soap that came with the doll and wash cloths and towels. Yesterday I was busy and quickly filled the sink with water then went on about my business. Charlotte was quick to come tell me to please come empty the sink because her baby needed warm water and that water I put in was waaayyyy too cold. I love to see her doing these things, taking care of her little friends, it is just so sweet. Right now she has an animal hospital set up all over the living room with lots of blankets, pillows and medicine for her stuffed animals and I heard her tell her little pig to stop whining so much. Okay so she's got a ways to go with her nurturing skills and she may have heard that one from me but I think one day she is going to be a good little mommy herself.

Looking Forward::

Today is a big day around here....it's Eric's birthday and it's kind of a big Birthday, too. The kids and I have been making decorations, cards and wrapping presents. This morning I had a chance to run a few quick errands while Wyatt was at school and my mom was watching Charlotte and as soon as I set out on my way I. got. a. flat. tire. Do these things only happen to me or is it everyone? Because I only had about an hour and a half, there was definitely no time for a 45-minute delay. Instead of crying right there in the auto shop parking lot I decided that it was okay if things didn't turn out exactly the way I planned today and got over myself. All is well. Tonight we are celebrating by going out for Mexican which is always Eric's first choice, the kids are excited and really, really hope they shove daddy's face in the fried ice cream...we'll see!
Happy Birthday to my sweet husband, looking forward to another great year with you!

Winter is not my favorite season. As a matter of fact, of the four it is probably my least favorite. But instead of dwelling on how much I don't like it I am trying to appreciate Winter this year, okay endure the winter without complaining (as much). Over the weekend I had  time to take a walk by myself with my camera and I was almost amazed at how pretty even Winter can be. Do you see the heart in the ice in the fourth picture? Wyatt pointed that out to me. I think he is going to be just like his daddy, who knows a lot about trees, plants and nature, and that makes me really happy. And of course without Winter we would not appreciate the warmer weather and everything that comes with the other seasons...that's what I keep telling myself anyway.

De.lish.

Over the weekend I made the most delicious blueberry muffins ever. It's true and usually I wouldn't call anything I make myself delicious but I am now. While blog-browsing the other day I ran across this recipe and it just so happened that I had everything I needed for the recipe....well, except fresh blueberries which my mom had and so graciously gave up for these.  Anyway, the recipe is super easy and has a yummy crumb topping (my first time for that) and you won't mess them up, I promise. So go make sure you have everything you need in your cupboard and make these for breakfast tomorrow, you're family will love you for it. Check out the recipe here. Happy baking!

Weekend At The Cabin::

Monday, February 1, 2010

This past weekend we had a little winter get-away at my parent's cabin. My sister and her family, my brother and his family,  my parents and my little family. Eight adults and six kids all in one cabin. It was freezing outside but the kids didn't care, they begged to go outside so they could go slide on the pond, so we did.  Lots of sliding on the ice, walks through the woods, finding the perfect walking stick, and looking for animal tracks outside. Inside there was lots of hide-and-seek, fort-building, movies, drawing, and snacks. Saturday night was a full moon and once the kids learned this one was considered a
"Wolf Moon" they were so excited, just by the name of it. We had to walk out a few times to see it, as well as all the stars, the stars are so plentiful and bright out in the country, which I love. Such a fun, relaxing weekend and although I love winter at the Cabin, now I can't wait for Spring at the cabin.
